Three people were arrested by Mt. Vernon Police early Friday morning following a break-in at a residence in the 200 block of South Second Street.
According to police reports, a woman who lives in the block called authorities at 3:30 a.m. stating someone broke out a front window and was trying to force the door of the home. The woman hid in a bedroom closet.
Two males subjects also inside the residence reportedly went outside after hearing commotion inside the residence.
Police responded to the residence and arrested Bryan Presley, 19, of the 4300 block of Lilac, and Carissa Johnson, 20, and Charles T. Payton, 21, both of the 800 block of Dewey Avenue.
The three suspects have initially been charged with knowingly damaging property. Presley and Johnson were still in the county jail under $1,000 bond late Friday afternoon while Payton posted $100 cash, according to jail logs.
