Vanita Louise “Weda” Ellis, 57, of Mt. Vernon, died 3:25 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Feb. 9, 1956, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Franklin Lee and Vanita Ina (Minor) Ellis.
She is survived by her mother, Vanita Ina Ellis of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Carol Anderson and husband Dennis of Mt. Vernon and Julie Yost and husband Clarence of Dix; two nephews, Brian Anderson of Mt. Vernon and James Ellis of Wamac; two great-nephews, Brayden Anderson and Kevin Anderson of Mt. Vernon; two aunts, Grace Garrison of Countryside and Joyce Erwin of East Bernstadt, Ky.; two uncles, Bobby Joe Ellis and wife Patricia of Mt. Vernon and Clyde W. Ellis and wife Deloris of Bluford; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father and a nephew, Earl Anderson.
Weda worked at the Mt. Vernon Shoe Factory and the Credit Bureau. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and loved taking care of all the children in her family.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 13445 N. Dartmouth Ln., Mt. Vernon.
