LEAVENWORTH, Kan. — Richard L. Karnosky, 74, of Leavenworth, Kans., passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at a local nursing facility.Richard was born Feb. 12, 1939, in Benton, the son of Bernard and Madge (Fraeley) Karnosky.He is survived by one son, Kenneth Karnosky; two daughters, Shannon Greene of Fort Worth, Texas, and Karen Bland (Gordon) “Tippy,” also of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Karnosky (Pearl) of Mt. Vernon. He attended high school in Mt. Vernon and then entered college where he earned his master's degree in Education from Eastern New Mexico State University. During this time he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 through 1965.He taught for over 25 years, up until his retirement at Patton Junior High School in Fort Leavenworth, Kan.Richard enjoyed going out to eat and spending time with his grandson Kaleb. He enjoyed researching genealogy and studying the history of World War II.Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Leavenworth National Cemetery.Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Belden-Larkin Funeral Home in Leavenworth, Kan., 700 S.
