K-mart robbery

MT. VERNON — Jefferson County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for an attempted robbery in the K-mart parking lot over a week ago.

According to information from the Mt. Vernon Police Department, the incident occurred around 8 p.m. June 5 while the victim was in a vehicle speaking on a cell phone. The vehicle was parked in a handicapped parking space in front of the business, facing west. The subject entered the victim’s vehicle to commit the crime.

The suspect is described as a male, about 5-feet, 10-inches and weighing about 150 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball cap, blue T-shirt and blue jean shorts.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call MVPD at 242-2131 or Jefferson County Crime Stoppers at 242-TIPS (8477).
