MT. VERNON — Taxing districts in Jefferson County received receipts from mobile home taxes this week.
Treasurer Dan Knox released the funds at mid-week for taxes collected for the 2013 tax year.
The total distribution was $300,224, which compares to approximately $30 million distributed for real estate taxes.
“However small this mobile home distribution is it’s still a shot in the arm in these taxing districts, especially for schools which close out their fiscal year in June,” Knox said.
Sixteen taxing districts in Jefferson County received more than $1,000, according to information provided by the treasurer.
The City of Mt. Vernon received the largest sum of $5,233, followed by Mt. Vernon road district, which received $2,741.
The Dodds road district received $2,441, Field road district received $2,419 and the Webber road
district received $1,985 to round out the top five.
Other districts receiving $1,000 or more include:
Dodds Township, $1,069; Field Township, $1,246; Grand Prairie Township, $1,221; Grand Prairie road district, $1,084; McClellan Township, $1,062; Mt. Vernon Township, $1,664; Pendleton Township, $1,000; Rome Township, $1,362; Rome road district, $1,520; Webber Township, $1,040; and Rend Lake Conservation District, $1,386.
The treasurer’s office recently placed liens on mobile home taxes not paid by the Feb. 14 deadline. Any monies received from those liens being paid will be distributed at a later date.
Typically, real estate distributions are in September and November. Due dates for this year’s real estate taxes, for the 2013 tax year, have not been set at this time.
Knox said the mobile home distribution report will be posted on the county’s website at jeffersoncountyillinois.com under the treasurer’s link by the end of next week.
