MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon Township High School has approved a contract change not to exceed $270,022 to McCarthy additional pre-construction work.
The pre-construction contract is for the new MVTHS campus, which is set to be re-designed by July 7. FGM Architects is expected to submit the new construction documents to McCarthy for final review and re-bid the project in mid-July, according to information previously reported by McCarthy — the project manager firm on the new campus. Initial bids for the work came in over-budget.
In May, the board agreed to pay FGM an additional $450,000 as part of a newly amended professional services agreement due to the additional design work. Monday, an amended contract with McCarthy was approved.
According to the change proposal request, the additional $270,022 is “additional compensation for extended pre-construction services and staff rates escalation as a result of redesign and rebid of project.”
The breakdown of the additional funds is $226,480 in post-bid value analysis from Jan. 6 to Feb. 7; document conformance management and 75 percent review document estimate from Feb. 10 to July 2; and the final plan review/bid and award from July 3 to Aug. 22. Staff rates without the theater component is an estimated $43,542.
The agreement amends the contract to show 100 percent of construction documents done by July 7; commencement of construction on or before Sept. 22; and substantial completion or milestone dates without the theater component of March 24, 2016.
