MT. VERNON — Nicole Peterson has been named the new assistant finance director for the city.
“I’m excited about working for the city,” Peterson said. “I’m learning the processes and getting familiar with the programs and finances right now.”
Peterson’s first day on the job was Monday, June 30. She comes to the position from Old National Bank.
Peterson, a resident of Waltonville, is a graduate of Waltonville High School and is a grade school cheerleading coach at Waltonville Grade School. She is a graduate of Rend Lake College, earning associate of arts and associate of science degrees. She then went to Southern Illinois
University — Carbondale, where she double-majored in business economics and financial management.
“I’m the most excited about working on the budget,” Peterson said. “I’ve been forecasting and budgeting, so I’m excited to learn more.”
Peterson will be working in the Mt. Vernon finance office with City Finance Director Merle Hollmann.
