Ruritan President-elect Bobby Burton and wife Linda of Chesterfield, Va., toured Illinois and Indiana Ruritan clubs during the July 4 week.
The couple were joined by National Director Grover Burkett and district officers Gov. Rita Woods, Lt. Gov. Marilyn Bledsoe, Sec. James Barger, Treasurer Michael Merry and past national directors Howard Tanner, Beverly Tanner, James Zehr and Robert Walker.
On July 1, they arrived in Olney at the Burkett’s home The Dundas club hosted an evening reception in their honor and had a Flag Buring Ceremony.
On July 2, they had breakfast with the Dieterich and Beecher City clubs and toured their veterans memorial. In the afternoon the couple visited with the Allendale Club.
July 3, they traveled to Indiana to the Montgomery club for lunch, then visited the Ruritan Campground. Later in the afternoon, they enjoyed refreshments with Hayesville and Dubois clubs.
July 4, they participated in the parade at Jefferson Township in Otwell, Ind., and were served a lunch. They also participated in a parade at West Union.
On July 5, they had breakfast with the Mt. Erie club.
The Burton’s had lunch at the Bluford Ruritan Club, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary. The couple also visited the Bluford Ruritan Veterans Memorial. A dinner reception was hosted at the Mill Shoals club.
