A Tennessee truck driver caused a portion of the Interstate 64-Interstate 57 north ramp to be shut down Friday night when his truck overturned.
Illinois State Police said Myrus Smith, 23, of Nashville, was eastbound on Interstate 64, and missed his turn to go onto Interstate 57 south. He attempted to take the I-57 north ramp at the last minute. This action caused the truck tractor semi combination to overturn. The truck came to rest on its passenger side blocking the ramp. Police said the ramp was closed for an extended period of time while crews worked to get the truck upright.
The accident occurred shortly before 6 p.m.
Smith was taken to Good Samaritan Regional Health Center with injuries. Smith was cited for improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed.
