MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon Parks and Recreation Department and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources are offering a free fishing clinic again this year.
There will be two clinics every day, Monday through Friday. The first session is from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the second session from 1 to 3 p.m. Clinics will run from June 3 through July 3.
The clinic will focus on fishing ethics, aquatic ecology and fishing techniques. Following hands-on instruction, the participants will go outdoors for a supervised fishing trip to the Veterans Park Lake.
IDNR will provide all fishing gear needed for the program and those attending the program will not need a fishing license. Anyone interested in participating in the program must register with the park office.
For more information, contact the Veterans Park office at 242-6890.
