Mt. Vernon Mayor Mary Jane Chesley has registered to be in the exhibition. She said her artwork will be a drawing.
Chesley added that an inclusive art exhibit is a good idea since some local artists may be intimidated to enter a competitive show.
“I think it’s an excellent way to recognize local talent,” Chesley said. “The pressure is off and the creativity is on.”
All artists must deliver their finished work to the Shrode Art Center between Thursday, Jan. 2, and Sunday, Jan. 5. The claybords will be displayed “salon-style” at the center in a grid-like pattern, Gibbs said.
The opening reception for the show will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 11. Participating artists get in free along with one guest. Others pay a $5 admission fee.
In addition, there will be a special Art Chat discussion forum held at 3 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Shrode Art Center.
This free event will give artists participating in Creativity Redefined! the chance to talk about the exhibit and what inspired their artwork, Gibbs said.
