Polar Plungers event set for March 1

Plungers raise money for the Special Olympics in Southern Illinois

MT. VERNON — The Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge fundraiser will be held at noon on Saturday, March 1, at South Sandusky Beach in Benton. The event will raise money for the Special Olympics program in Southern Illinois.

Participants must raise a minimum of $75 in donations to take part in the Plunge, which involves jumping into the waters of Rend Lake. After the event, a lunch will be held at the Benton Eagles, 201 E. Washington St. The lunch is free for plungers. For the general public, the cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 6 and under.

To join the Plunge, you can register by contacting Rhonda Knight at 383-4400. You can also register the morning of the event.
