MT. VERNON — Area children will be able to enjoy a showing of Disney’s “The Goofy Movie” Saturday at the Granada Theater as part of the Kid’s Classic Matinee showings.
The animated musical was released in 1995, and features Disney’s lovable character Goofy as a father wanting to spend a summer with his son, Max. Max isn’t looking forward to the trip, and makes a promise to impress a girl that he will be on-stage with teen singing sensation Powerline. Max is set to hate the trip and be embarrassed by Goofy at every turn, and try to find a way to reach Los Angeles for the Powerline concert. What Max learns is that his dad isn’t so bad, honesty is the best policy, and that when it comes to dancing, no one beats Goofy.
The movie is being sponsored by Crossroads Community Hospital, providing free glo-necklaces for the children along with additional giveaways. Adults will be eligible to win a door prize basket. The First State Bank of Dix will be presenting one child with a $100 U.S. Savings Bond.
Admission to the showing is free, and doors open at 1 p.m. with the movie starting at 2 p.m. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Concessions will be available for purchase in the lobby.
Additional information about the Granada Center for the Performing Arts, the Classic Movie Season and the Kids Classic Matinee Season showing is available on the Granada Web site at www.granada.mvn.net.
