MT. VERNON — It’s almost time to dust off the holiday decorations, dig out the ornaments and make a list of holiday cheer items that are still needed. But Crossroads Community Hospital is helping ladies everywhere mark one item off their list with their upcoming Healthy Woman event.

The November Healthy Woman event will feature a make it, take it deco ribbon wreath making class. Debi Richardson, marketing director for Crossroads said this event is probably the biggest one hosted by Healthy Woman for the year.

“I think there are a couple of reasons,” Richardson said of the popularity of the event. “It’s exciting to get into the holiday spirit. We always make it fun and you walk away with something you made with your own hands.”

Richardson added another reason this particular event is so popular is the beautiful location — the performance hall at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts and there is always good food. This year, there will be a chocolate fountain with both white and regular chocolate, fruit for dipping and other refreshments served when everyone are done making their wreaths.

Richardson said this event is also one where the partner booths make an extra effort.

“They try to make it special for the ladies to visit,” she said.

The deadline to pre-register for the event is today (Thursday) so enough supplies can be bought to make the wreaths, Richardson said. So far there are about 115 people signed up for the event and Richardson said she had anticipated about 125 people signing up.

“It looks like we might creep over that [number],” she said.

There will be several color schemes to choose, which will be picked out at the beginning of the event. An informational video will be shown before the wreath making starts and an advisory council member will show her example wreaths. There will be advisory council members moving around the room to help anyone who needs it during the wreath making process, Richardson said.

There are many ways to sign up for the event. People can either visit the Crossroads Community Hospital or Curves to pay in person, or pay online through the Crossroads PayPal account. Those who choose the online payment must be a Healthy Woman member, Richardson pointed out.

“You don’t have to be a member to attend the event,” she added.

The wreath making Healthy Woman event will be Thursday Nov. 8. Partner booths will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the craft session will begin at 6 p.m. To register online, visit www.crossroadscommunityhospital.com, click on the Healthy Woman tab and follow the instructions.
