---- — Amanda McNear of Mt. Vernon, with the Illinois National Guard Service Member and Family Support Services, was awarded the Illinois Military Medal of Meric on April 12 at Camp Lincoln in Springfield.
McNear received the award for her service as the Illinois National Guard Family Assistance Center representative.
McNear serves as the hub for the Illinois National Guard Family Support system for the southern region of Illinois. She has successfully maintained a 99 percent contact rate to outreach calls to familyi members of deployed service members.
“Amanda continuously sets the exasmple and demonstrates what the standard is for taking care of our troops and their families,” said Col. Richard Neely of Springfield, Chief of the Joint Staff for the Illinois National Guard. “She has a passion for helping our military families and making sure they and their servicemembers are mission ready to serve.
