WALTONVILLE — —
Jefferson County Sheriff's Department was called to Waltonville Grade School at 12:40 p.m. Friday following an incident involving one of its students.
According to police logs, a 13-year-old student was in the principal's office with his parents after school officials became aware of a threat the student made to “kill students and staff members.” Police logs indicate the student had made some kind of a list of potential victims.
Shlonda Horton, superintendent of Waltonville Unit District 1 said late Friday afternoon there is no immediate threat to students or staff.
“We have handled the problem internally and there is no cause for concern,” Horton said, adding the student did not have a weapon.
