Drug sweep nets in 12 arrests

MT. VERNON — Law enforcement officials arrested 12 people on various drug charges during a drug sweep conducted Wednesday.

Police were attempting to serve 22 warrants as a result of investigations by the Joint Narcotics Division of the Mt. Vernon Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

This was the fourth drug sweep this year by the Narcotics Division, resulting in approximately 90 total arrests. Additional arrest warrants will be issued and served in the near future.

About 15 officers in teams of three from both departments started serving warrants at 6 a.m. and completed their roundup of suspects in both the city and county around 10 a.m. Six of the 22 warrants had been served as of 7:30 a.m.

Those arrested and charged include:

n Anna Smith, 49, of the 300 block of Conger Avenue, on a charge of

unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

n Raymond Tucker, 61, of the 400 block of Forest, on two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

n Jykeece Oliver, 23, of the 2300 block of Perkins Avenue, on a charge of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

n Demario Bell, 23, of the 500 block of South 17th Street, on a charge of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

n Jennifer Summerville, 44, of the 700 block of South 19th Street, on a charge of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

n Vincent Davis, 33, of the 1800 block of South 18th Street, on two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

n Gregory Bullard, 38, Bluford, on four counts of unlawful purchase of methamphetamine precursor. During Bullard’s arrest, officers found in his possession meth-manufacturing materials as well as controlled substances. As a result, future charges will be filed, according to police.

n Alexander Dinwiddie, 40, of the 900 block of George Street, on a charge of possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver.

n Catina Godwin, 40, of the 4000 block of Willow Springs, on a charge of possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver.
