---- — WOODLAWN — A 70-year-old Woodlawn man has died as a result of a mowing accident on Labor Day.
Alan Dempsey was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. Monday by Jefferson County Coroner Eddie Joe Marks.
Marks said Dempsey was mowing hay on a hillside west of Woodlawn. EMS personnel were called at 6:30 p.m. to the 3500 block of Ellis Drive, according to radio traffic. Marks said it appears Dempsey had stopped the tractor and attempted to get off. The tractor then apparently started to roll and Dempsey attempted to get back on the moving tractor and was ran over by the rear tire.
Marks believes the accident occurred less than an hour before Dempsey was found. There were no witnesses to the accident.
