VERNON — The final installment of the Granada Classic Kids Matinee for the season will be held Saturday with a showing of A Cinderella Story."This will be the last free matinee of the season, and as ever, one lucky child will win a $50 savings account via a drawing before the start of the movie," stated Barbara D'Arcy, president of the Granada Center for the Performing Arts. D'Arcy said the program will be continued again in the fall. Released in 2004, A Cinderella Story stars Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray. It is a modern twist on the classic Cinderella tale, with Sam Montgomery exploited by her wicked stepmother. She has a Internet pen pal whom she meets at a school dance and fall in love, but their different worlds keep them apart. The season for the event runs from October through May. The Granada is able to offer the movies free to the public due to the sponsorships of local banks and businesses. Admission to the movie is free, and snacks will be available for purchase. The doors will open at 1:30 p.m. and the movie starts at 2 p.m. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
