“I would pretty much (tell them) to stay committed,” Ellis said. “Try your best and if you fall, get back up. I'm going to be there to assist them. … Keep trying and you'll succeed.”
Having a strong PE program is vitally important for students, Ellis said. When kids are physically healthy, their brains function at a higher level as well.
“It's going to help them with their schoolwork, too,” Ellis said of PE. “If they stay active, it helps them mentally and physically in the classroom.”
Ellis currently lives in Belle Rive. The first day of classes for District 80 schools is Sept. 3.
