Awards presented for Cedarhurst Art and Craft Fair

---- — MT. VERNON – The award winners for the 37th annual Cedarhurst Art and Craft Fair have been announced.

Organizers say the two-day fair Saturday and Sunday was a success, drawing thousands of people to the grounds of the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts.

“The combination of good weather, a great variety of artists, and delicious food choices made for a terrific Art and Craft Fair event,” said Cheryl Settle, the fair’s volunteer director, in a Cedarhurst news release. “Even a little rain Sunday morning didn’t deter visitors to the annual fair.”

Cash awards, totaling $7,500, were given out to exhibiting craftsmen. The awards were provided by area individuals and businesses.

The winners included:

n Best of Show – John Pinckney of Athens, Ga.

n Administrative Counselors Award – Debbie and John Wiles of Mattoon.

n Best of Ceramics – Kris and Al Clement of Springfield, Mo.

n Best of Fiber – Sherry Bingaman of Vienna, Mo.

n Best of Glass – Cameron Smith and Jan Thomas of Murphysboro.

n Best of Jewelry – Obayana Ajanaku of Decatur, Ga.

n Best of Metal – Stephen Phillips of Brazil, Ind.

n Best of Other Media – Roger Pfalzgraf of Staunton.

n Best of Two Dimensional – Lu Fuller of Maysville, Ky.

n Best of Wood – John Quick of Cunningham, Tenn.

n Best Booth Design – Carrie and Patrick Frost of Normal.

n Best of Illinois Artists – Chet Stogner of Carlyle.

n Best of Missouri Artists – Michelle Ochonicky of Eureka, Mo.

n People’s Choice Award – Rachel Haynes of Altona.

Planning is set to begin in the next few weeks for the 2014 Art and Craft Fair, which is set for Sept. 5 and 7.
