MT. VERNON -- — The Mt. Vernon Township High School Finance Committee Monday reviewed information related to a proposed 7.91 percent tax levy increase the district is seeking.
The tenative 2013 tax levy showing the increase was approved by the MVTHS Board of Education last month. The levy is set to be formally adopted at the Dec. 16 board meeting following a required Truth in Taxation hearing.
At Monday's committee meeting, Superintendent Michael Smith presented more detailed information on the levy and a discussion was held. Even though MVTHS is seeking a 7.91 percent increase, it will only likely receive about a 3.1 percent increase or less given tax cap restrictions.
