MT. VERNON — The city approved just over $500,000 in building permits for July.
Residential building came in at $498,600. No new commercial construction or renovations were permitted for the month, while signage permits came in at $40,540.
This is the second month construction building has hit a standstill. In June, two commercial building permits were issued, for Christopher Rural Health Corp, 2920 Veterans Memorial Drive, for $23,000 to renovate a parking lot and to A.P. Petties of 1003 Bell for $1,000 for a snow cone stand.
Residential permits were up in July, coming in at 498,600, compared to $330,950 in June.
Residential permits issued were:
Jeff Ramsey, 12252 E. Harlan Rd., to erect a 30 by 50 foot pole barn at an estimated cost of $8,400;
Larry Sidwell, 1812 Richview Road, to reconstruct the rear roof to gain habitable second floor space at an estimated cost of $20,000;
Kathleen Moon, 1316 George St., to construct an addition to the home at an estimated cost of $5,000;
Bill and Toni Hutchison, 15078 Loop Lane, to construct a new home at an estimated cost of $180,000;
Kent and Chelsea McMahon, 1016 Birdie Lane, to construct a new home at an estimated cost of $250,000;
Misty King, 2623 Benton Rd., to build a 24 by 45 foot house on a partial basement at an estimated cost of $35,000; and
William Pittman, 403 Stinson, to build a covered deck at an estimated cost of $200.
Signage permits issued in July were:
Central Christian Church, for properties at 1125 Maple St., and 1117 Maple St.;
Kenneth Hails, to remove a trailer at 101 Grant St.; and
Kenneth Clark, for property at 608 Main St.
Signage permits issued in June were:
Circle K., 103 S. 34th St., to place a sign at an estimated cost of $15,700;
Dollar General Store, Route 37 South, to erect a sign at an estimated cost of $9,840;
Austin's Floral Accents, 813 Broadway, to place a sign at an estimated cost of $200; and
Byrd Watson, 3401 Broadway, to place a sign at an estimated cost of $14,700.
