Revamped Shop it Here program unveiled

It will cost businesses $25 to be advertised using the QR code system. Participating businesses will promote special offers on the new website, which will be associated with the Chamber's site.

In addition, businesses will be able to have a link on the new site that takes users directly to that company's website. The QR code promotion will be advertised heavily using traditional and social media.

The cash mob portion of the campaign will be geared toward retail stores, restaurants, and bars. The goal is to get as many customers to the business at one time as possible.

A designated time for a cash mob event will be established. This event will then be heavily promoted and the participating business will have a special offer to help entice customers. It will cost businesses $75 to take part in a cash mob.

But even with all these changes, the ultimate goal of Shop it Here remains the same – to get more residents to shop locally.

“It's a benefit to our membership, it's a benefit to the community, and it keeps dollars here locally,” said Bob Feltmeier, president of the Chamber. “Everybody likes to try to shop Mt. Vernon first.”
