“It's prestigious and it's a level of accreditation that's very beneficial to a school district,” Green said.
Also on Wednesday, the District 80 Board held a closed session, after which they took action on several personnel changes.
The board approved hiring Jennifer Barciszewski as an individual aide at the J.L. Buford Intermediate Center.
Also, the board approved transferring two individual aides within the district.
Aide Rebecca Hollingsead was moved from Casey Middle School to the Dr. Andy Hall Early Childhood Center, and aide Debbie Dillman was transferred from Andy Hall to the Primary Center.
Finally, the board also voted to advertise for a new part-time individual aide at Andy Hall.
Assistant Superintendent Aletta Lawrence said these changes are in response to two new students coming to the district with Individual Education Plans.
Students with IEPs tend to have disabilities that require them to receive one-on-one help to meet their educational goals. The aides provide this assistance, Lawrence said.
“If a student has this in their IEP, it's something they require to be successful,” Lawrence said.
