MT. VERNON — — A water safety presentation was held for Bethel Grade School students Wednesday, sponsored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
More than 100 pre-kindergarten through fourth grade students attended the program, which took place in the school's gymnasium. Mike Edwards, a ranger for the Army Corps of Engineers, was the main presenter, along with a talking robotic sea serpent named Uncle Si-moor.
The goal of the program was to teach kids the basics of how to stay safe in and around the water.
