Chamber’s Progressive Dinner to be held

MT. VERNON — — The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce is inviting the community to a cross-town sampling of local restaurants.

The chamber’s Progressive Dinner will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31,  with appetizers at Buffalo Wild Wings, said Michaela Scattone, Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce marketing assistant.

“We’ll move to the Silver Streak Inn for the entree, and then we’ll have dessert at Pro’s Place, which is going to be catered by Rend Lake College Culinary Arts,” she said.

Brandon Bullard, executive director of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, said this is the second Progressive Dinner in the last four years; another was held on Valentine’s Day.

“We used to do it fairly regularly,” he said. “It almost needs to be a regular thing, like our Monday luncheons.”

The goal of the event is to highlight the chamber’s businesses and encourage chamber members to network during the event, Bullard said.

“It’s always good to get people networking an talking and using the resources of the Chamber,” he said. “...It should be a fun night, and I’m looking forward to it.”

There will be prizes and a hospitality sponsor at each stop on the tour, Scattone said. The evening will conclude at about 8:30 p.m. at Pro’s Place.

Tickets for the event are $30 and are available at the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.

The event is sponsored by Tony Wielt, State Farm agent, the Mt. Vernon Holiday Inn, Rend Lake College Culinary Arts and Affordable Gas and Electric LLC, Scattone said.

“We’re just looking for our members and the public to come out and enjoy food, fun and a good time,” she said. “We’re looking to promote the businesses and take a tour across Mt. Vernon.”
