MT. VERNON — —
Positions are still available at Studio RLC for nail technology and the cosmetology programs.
RLC's newest program, nail technology, is scheduled to begin Aug. 19. The short program will help students learn about nail care so they may enter the workforce after 16 weeks of study. Classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and every other Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Studio RLC at the Rend Lake College MarketPlace in Mt. Vernon.
"We are very excited for the college to be able to offer this new program," said Daphne Mitchell, director of Studio RLC. "It's such a short amount of time that I think it's a great opportunity for that student who wants to study nail technology without the hair aspect. Plus, our textbook is current with all the latest nail techniques."
Seats are also open in both the daytime and evening cosmetology programs.
The day time program is scheduled to begin Aug. 26 and is a full-time, 10 month program. Classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and every third Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The evening program will begin Oct. 21, and classes are scheduled on a part-time basis for the 16-month duration. Classes will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and every other Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
"The evening program is a really great opportunity for someone who still has children at home or someone who works full-time and might be looking for a career change," Mitchell said.
In the cosmetology programs, instructors train students in the basics of hair cutting and styling and work up to the latest, hottest trends. Services covered include shampooing, cutting, coloring and styling. Students will also learn other facets of the industry, including facials, nail care and customer service.
