Job Search Party in third year

MT. VERNON — — Job seekers will have an opportunity to leave resumes and possibly get on-site interviews during the annual Job Search Party scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Holiday Inn.

The event is being co-sponsored by WSIL-TV, Rend Lake College, the Illinois Small Business Development Center, and the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.

"I think this is like the third year that we've had this and it seems to have gotten bigger and better year," said Chamber Executive Director Brandon Bullard. "With the resources that WSIL has to offer in promoting this event, it should put it over the top," he added. "Rend Lake College puts all of their best people into this event, so those two co-sponsors make my job really easy."

Bullard estimated that more than 50 vendors will be in attendance, from a wide range of industries, seeking out potential employees.

"I would encourage anyone looking for a job to come. I would also encourage them to bring resumes and dress professionally," Bullard said.

Bullard reported most of the employers participating in the Job Search Party are looking to fill positions.

"Most of them have an interest in hiring right away," he said, adding, "Some vendors have a lot of turnovers so they are always looking for good employees, and staffing agencies are also looking to place quality people."

Bullard also recognized the Holiday Inn as the "perfect place for this venue." He said, "They have lots of space, there is plenty of room to register, places to meet and interview, and they offer a hospitality room for the vendors. For us to place our employers in a conducive place to employ top-notch people allows this thing to succeed."

He added, "This is a top-notch show and I'm proud to have the Chamber log included with WSIL and Rend Lake College."
