An Iowa man in the Jefferson County Justice Center for committing two carjackings in Mt. Vernon last month made his initial court appearance on Tuesday.
David J. Pederson, 55, pleaded innocent to two counts of aggravated vehicle hijacking with a weapon, Class X felonies. Pederson was on his way to a halfway house in Iowa on March 26 to finish out a federal prison sentence when he hijacked two vehicles. He was arrested in Nashville later in the day and brought back to Jefferson County.
