MT. VERNON — Renowned jazz performer Victor Goines will be performing Feb. 1 at the Mitchell Museum Performance Hall at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts.
Goines has recorded and performed with many noted jazz and popular artists such as Terence Blanchard, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Bo Diddley, Bob Dylan Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Green, Lionel Hampton, BB. King, Lenny Kravitz, Manford MArsalis, Ellis Marsalis, Willie Nelson, Diana Ross and Stevie Wonder.
Goins is a jazz saxophonist and clarinetists who earned his master’s degree at Virginia Commonwealth University, is the director of jazz studies at the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University and previously served as first artistic director of the Juilliard School jazz program from 200 to 2007. He has been a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and the Wynton Marsa-
lis Septet since 1993.
The performance will be held at 8 p.m. in the performance hall; a cash beer/wine bar and hors d’oeuvres will be served starting at 7 p.m. on Feb. 1.
Those attending are asked to purchase tickets in advance as seating is limited. Tickets are $35 per person or $30 per person for members of Cedarhurst.
