“We have an amazing adoption program in that we provide ongoing contact with the birth parents as long as is needed,” she said.
One week ago, a 16-year-old adoptee spent a week at Angels’ Cove to be reacquainted with her birth family, a situation which was make possible by the facility’s commitment and longevity, Donoho said.
Angels’ Cove was established in 1985 as a part of the Baptist Children’s Home in Carmi, before moving to Mt. Vernon in 1993.
Donoho said the residents and staff at the facility appreciate the medical professionals in Mt. Vernon, from obstetricians and general practitioners to the Women’s Center staff at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center who have provided care and continuity to the women of the facility.
She encouraged the local community to come to the Sisters Celebrate Life event in order to provide their support to the facility.
“It’s going to be good food and good fun for a good cause,” she said.
