MT. VERNON — — Mt. Vernon Township High School officials have expressed concern about a roughly $29,000 natural gas bill from the school's new gas supplier, Constellation.
The bill, which was for the month of February, was discussed at length during Monday afternoon's MVTHS Finance Committee meeting. Committee members want to find out more about why the bill was so high before making the payment.
Part of the reason for the high bill was the school district had a 25 percent increase in gas usage this winter because of the extreme weather. Gas prices were also two-and-a-half to three times higher during that time period, said Superintendent Michael Smith.
