MT. VERNON — — Chief Michael Huntman will retire from the Jefferson Fire Protection District April 30. He has worked for the district for 30 years and has been chief for roughly 19 years.
Huntman said he has greatly enjoyed working for the JFPD, but that the time has come to "do something else."
The JFPD Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday at Station 1 on South 10th Street to discuss replacing Huntman.
