City declares properties surplus

In other business, the city council:

Approved a financing bid of 1.99 percent for five years from U.S. Bancorp Government Leasing and Financing, Inc., to finance $125,000 for a roll-off truck;

Approved a financing bid of 2.47 percent from U.S. Bancorp Government Leasing and Financing, Inc., to finance $498,000 for a fire pumper truck;

Approved bid results for street maintenance materials, which came in at $4,064 below the estimated and budgeted amount and going to Jax Asphalt and Quad County Ready Mix;

Approved a reduction in the number of Mt. Vernon Police Department captains;

Held a first reading on an ordinance to vacate an alley by Central Christian Church and Doris McGinnis;

Approved a tax increment finance district inducement resolution with Frank Barlotta for 815, 817 and 819 Jordan Street; and

Heard an update on city construction, water, sewer and sidewalk projects underway within the city.
