MT. VERNON — SSM Health Care has announced 55 jobs are being eliminated across their system will be at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon and St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.
A news release received after deadline indicates 36 employees will be directly impacted, with the other 19 positions being cut through attrition.
Employees reportedly will receive a 60-day pay notice period in addition to a severance package.
Some positions are being consolidated. The reductions will impact finance, human resources, communications, marketing, strategy and business development, safety and quality, mission and ethics as well as legal and government affairs.
After the cuts, both hospitals will still have around 2,000 employees. The St. Louis based company employs more than 30,000 workers in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.
