Following the meal, Smith and selection committee member John Howard presented the recognition of the alumni.

Each individual was presented with a personalized plaque.

The honorees all had mutual feelings of pride and excitement on getting inducted into a prestigious foundation.

"I am very proud, and if you look at the other people who are already in and see their backgrounds it is quite and honor to be amongst them," Stirewalt said.

Susan Kaufman Russ expressed she has a lot of fond memories growing up in Mt. Vernon and that the education she received at MVTHS was "fabulous."

"I think it is a great honor to be recognized as a distinguished alumni," Russ said.
