Oehm Scholarship winners announced

Mt. Vernon High School Principal Ron Daniels announced the 2007-08 winners of the Frederick Oehm Sr. Scholarship Award. The winners were selected based on their submission of an essay on a topic selected by the Board of Education. This year’s topic was “The Effect of Immigration on American Culture.” Other criteria for the award were scholarship, career objectives and attendance. Applicants had to be graduating seniors who will enroll in a college, university or specialized institution of training no later than the fall semester after high school graduation. The president of the Board of Education will officially present the scholarship awards at the Honors Program on Thursday. Pictured are winners, front row, from left to right, Sherrie A.
