Alicia Sheldon and Benjamin Conner of Nashville, Tenn. were united in marriage on May 31, 2014, at Denmark Baptist Church in Cutler.
The bride is the daughter of Tami Lovin and the late Tom Sheldon of Mt. Vernon and granddaughter of Esther Lovin and the late Arthur Lovin of Mt. Vernon.
Alicia is a 2010 graduate of Mt. Vernon Township High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in radio, television and digital media from Southern Illinois University in 2014. She currently works for Emerge Financial Wellness in Nashville, Tenn. as a marketing associate.
The groom is the son of Scott and Belinda Conner of DuQuoin and grandson of Richard and Marilyn Heine of Campbell Hill and Karen Conner and the late Darrel Conner of Ava.
Benjamin is a 2009 graduate of DuQuoin High School and plans to continue his postsecondary education in computer programming in Tennessee.
Alicia and Benjamin were married by pastor Noble Staley of Vine Church in Carbondale. Kelly Lisenby, long-time friend of the bride, was her maid of honor alongside bridesmaids: Ashleigh Stelte, cousin of the bride; Rebecca Conner, sister of the groom; and Alex Frisby. Kyera Gentles, niece of the bride, served as the flower girl. Alicia’s nephew, Kolbey Gentles, escorted her down the aisle.
Matthew Heine, uncle of the groom, served as best man, while Derick Gregory, Luke Montgomery and Tyler Barker served as groomsmen. Isaac Heine, two-year-old cousin of the groom, put in a special appearance as ring bearer.
Guests enjoyed dinner and dancing following the ceremony at the 17th Street Warehouse in Murphysboro.
The couple honeymooned in the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, Tenn. before returning to Nashville, Tenn., where they make their home.
