Reva Ann Petty will celebrate her 90th birthday Saturday, June 21, with an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, located at 2610 Logan St., across from the city park.
Reva is the daughter of Ira and Edna Black. She is the sister of Avis B. Cherry. She is the widow of Howard R. Petty. They were married for 61 years before his passing in 2002. They were residents of Waltonville until 1995, when they retired to Zephyrhills, Fla. Reva has been back in her hometown area, residing in Mt. Vernon, for four years.
Her careers included a cook and a seamstress and she later worked for the Waltonville School, partnering with her husband in custodial care before retirement.
She is the mother of four children, Pat Hayes, Jack Petty, Lin Petty (Nell) and Becky Mount (Rick). She has 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The open house is hosted by her church and her children. Cake and ice cream will be served. Memory cards will be provided for all to leave her with a memory message.
