Matthew Flanigan of Mt. Vernon and Kathryn “Katie” Kauppila of Nashville, Tenn., are happy to announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
Katie is the daughter of David and Elizabeth Kauppila of Oakland, Mich. Matthew is the son of Bruce and Paula Flanigan of Mt. Vernon.
The future bride is a graduate of Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, Ala. She graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, with a bachelor of arts degree and the University of Texas at Dallas with a master of science degree in communication disorders. Katie is currently employed at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville as a speech language pathologist.
The future groom is a Mt. Vernon Township High School graduate. He has a bachelor of business administration degree in economics from Baylor University and Juris Doctor degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. Matthew practices law at Black, Hedin, Ballard, McDonald P.C. in Mt. Vernon where he is a partner.
The wedding will be in Brentwood, Tenn., in the Baskin Chapel at Brentwood Baptist Church on Aug. 16, and a reception will be held in Mt. Vernon on Sept. 20. Following a honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple will reside in Mt. Vernon.
