Music in our Schools Concert set
The Mt. Vernon Township High School music department will host its annual Music in our Schools concert, 7 p.m. on March 19. Performances will include students from MVTHS, Casey Middle School, the Primary Center, Summersville Grade School, Field Grade School, Rome Grade School, Bethel Grade School, Dodds Grade School, McClellan Grade School and Bluford Grade School. Admission is free.
Church to host fundraiser
Lively Stone Apostolic Church will be hosting a fish fry from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday at the church. The meal will include fish, bread, cole slaw and drink with spaghetti available as an alternate to fish for $7.50. Deliveries will be made upon request. The proceeds benefit the building fund. Tickets are available in advance by calling 731-8768 and will also be available at the door.
Coin show scheduled
The Central Illinois Numismatic Association 24th Annual Spring Coin Show will be held March 24 at Northfield Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be 70 dealer tables. For further information, contact Steve Butler, show chairman, at 217-528-7634.
Lane reduction set
The Illinois Department of Transportation is alerting motorists traveling Interstate 57 southbound only of an upcoming lane reduction from mile marker 95 to mile marker 93 on March 14 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to allow for guardrail and shoulder repairs. Motorists should reduce speed, be alert to equipment and workers and use extreme caution when traveling through the area. To avoid any delays, motorists should seek an alternate route.
Free food giveaway to be held
Providence Church in Opdyke will be holding a free food giveaway from 9 to 10 a.m. on March 16 at the Pendleton Township Building in Opdyke. Food items to be given away include milk, eggs, bread, ravioli, beans, cornbread, cheese crackers, cake mix and icing. Limited supplies of food will be available.
