Carrie Wallace, 80, of Mt. Vernon, died 4:25 p.m. March 6, 2007, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital.
Mrs. Wallace was a homemaker.
Born March 8, 1927, in Centralia, she was a daughter of James and Luberta (Terrell) Jackson. She married Jake Wallace.
The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Lawrence James officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held 11 a.m. Friday.
Mrs. Wallace was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, the Usher Board, City Wide Ushers, the Heritage Foundation, and was a foster grandparent for Mt. Vernon District 80.
Survivors include sons: Dennis (Rose) Moore, James (Rita) Wallace, of Mt. Vernon; Clarence Wallace of Centralia, Allen Moore of Pontiac, Mich., Howard (Charmaine) Wallace of Geismer, La., Jake (Evelyn) Wallace and Otis Wallace, of Baton Rogue, La.; daughters: Shirley Elliott and Mary (Rufus) Johnson, of Mt. Vernon and Julia Wallace of Charleston, Mo.; 37 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 43 great-great grandchildren, three great-great-great grandchildren and a brother, Otis (Maureen) Jackson of Centralia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four sons, a brother and a sister.
Services are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home.
