Leonard Payne

— Leonard D. Payne, 79, of Rock Falls, and formerly of Iuka, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 10, 2008, at his home.
He was born in Iuka on Oct. 13, 1928, a son of Estele S. and Shirla Mar (Burton) Payne.
He married Glenna Mae Butcher on Feb. 24, 1959, in Dixon, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 2007.
He was a machine operator.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. today at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with Mark Shell officiating. Interment will follow at Bell Cemetery in rural Iuka.
Friends may call today from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Leonard is survived by a son, Donald Glen Payne of Sterling; daughters Deborah Lynn Wright and husband Orville of Dix-on, Lisa Mae Korpella of Virginia, Glen-na Kay “Katie” Lawson and husband Shawn of Sterling and Amy Lou Simms and husband John of Manito; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and brothers. Alvia Lee Payne and wife Theresa and Lowell Payne and wife Loretta, all of Rock Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and a sister.
Leonard was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
