John Stanley "Stan" Fuller

John Stanley "Stan" Fuller, 57, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 9:10 p.m. on May 3 2008, at St Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was born on June 9, 1950, in Pekin, the son of the late Glen E and Emma Ruth (Ward) Fuller.

Evening visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Anna City Cemetery, Anna, with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating.

He married Mary Jo Turner on August 16, 1970. Their son, James R. “Jim” Fuller (and Paula Clark) cared for him at his home in Wayne City during his final bout with cancer.

Stan's "one true love" in his life was Paula (Brown) Pate, who preceded him in death. They have one daughter, Wendi Seger and husband Matt of Del Norte, Colo.

Stan was an over-the-road truck driver for 38 years and acquired many friends across the nation. He was a member of the local ABATE Chapter 27 Motorcycle club, the Moose, and Eagles. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and watching races at the area dirt tracks as well as NASCAR races.

Mr. Fuller is survived by a brother, Melvin Fuller (and Kathy Taylor) of Mt. Vernon: six grandchildren, Jonathon, Candace and Shelbi of Wayne City, and Wes, Cole and Noelle of Del Norte, Colo. Three special friends helped with him during his illness, Bernie Richardson, Cal Taylor and Anita Davis.

His parents preceded him in death.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hughey Funeral Home where you may call 242-3348 or visit www.hugheyfuneralhome1969.com for further information or to send e-mail condolences.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Hospice of the Good Samaritan and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Ill., 62864.
