Celebrating the life of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Everett Carpenter.
Everett Carpenter was born in West Frankfort to Ida and Oscar Carpenter on April 2, 1914. He grew up in Dix and married Beatrice Walker on July 3, 1934.
They moved to Mt. Vernon where Everett co-established, owned and operated East Side Lumber Company from 1938 to 1968. Everett and Bee left Mt. Vernon and moved to Las Vegas, Nev. In Las Vegas, Everett owned and managed Echo Mobile Home Park from 1969 to 1985. Bee passed away on May 28, 1997. Everett continued residing at Echo Park in Las Vegas. He joined Bee on May 1, 2008.
Everett is survived by his daughter, Betty Bjerrum of Arcadia, Calif.; four grandchildren, Steven Hill, Jim Wood and Kendra Wood, all of California, and Kristie Woeckener of Florida; great-grandchildren, Alex, Jack and Dylan Ray Wood, Mackenzie, Amanda, Harrison and Delaney Sue Hill.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 2 p.m. service on Thursday at Palm Mortuary-downtown. Services will be led by Jim Houston-Hencken. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Park.
