— Mary Ruth Wood, 79, of Wayne City, passed away at White Oaks Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon.
She was born in Keenes on Aug. 28, 1928, a daughter of Fred and Mary (Evans) Payne. She married Hadley Wood on Sept. 22, 1951. She was a homemaker.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Salem Mateer Cemetery with the Rev. Richard McCormick officiating. Burial will follow.
Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Mary is survived by her husband, Hadley Wood of Wayne City; sons, Richard Wood and wife Rhonda of Wayne City, George Wood and wife Sally of Wayne City, Gilbert Wood and wife Traci of Wayne City and Donald Wood of Wayne City; daughters, Judy Langa and husband Bob of Belle Rive, Barbara Thomas of Wayne City and Donna Wood of Wayne City; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Payne of Ashley; and sisters, Doroth Dulaney of Mt. Vernon and Leona Meador of Centralia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers.
