Virginia D. Buskool

Virginia D. Buskool, 85, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 9 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at Nature Trail Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon.

She was born in Mt. Vernon on March 10, 1923, a daughter of Authur and Mary E. (Greathouse) Raney. She married Henry J. “Speedy” Buskool on Nov. 25, 1939, in Mt. Vernon, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 1993. Virginia worked for the Secretary of State.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. David Shores officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Virginia is survived by a daughter, Linda Polston and husband Bob of Mt. Vernon; a grandson, Robert H. Polston and wife Heather of Mt. Vernon; a great-grandson, Jared Polston of Marion; two sisters, Florence Casey of Mt. Vernon and Lillian “Shorty” Henry of Mt. Vernon; a sister-in-law, Loretta Raney of Mt. Vernon; good friend, Mary Lou Ellis of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents; husband; infant son Rodney Ray Buskool; brother Aurthur “Babe” Raney; and sister Dorothy Dethrow preceded her in death.

Virginia was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church
