Robert L. Johnson

Robert L. “Bob” Johnson, 72, of Wayne City, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Wayfair in Fairfield.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Olive Branch Cemetery near Wayne City, under the direction of York Funeral Home, Wayne City.

Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 18, 1936, in Wayne County, son of Sarah “Sally” Elizabeth (Nichols) and Henry Logan Johnson. On April 8, 1956, he married Vera Alena Wilton in Long Prairie Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson had been a farmer, timber cutter, and auctioneer.

He is survived by his wife of 52 year, Alene Johnson; two sons, Robert Dennis Johnson of Mt. Vernon and Walter Daniel “Dan Johnson and wife Lisa of Wayne City; two daughters, Vera Darlene “Darla” Dulaney and husband Michael of Mackinaw and Beverly DeAnna Pickett and husband Roy of Mt. Vernon; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Johnson and wife Patsy of California and Floyd Johnson and wife Faye of Marion; and four sisters, Rosemary Rawls of California, Eva Littlefield and husband Harold “Bud” of Norris City, Ruth Bullock of Wayne City and Sue Woolever and husband Loran of Sims.

He was preceded in death by his parents, baby girl, two grandchildren, sister and brother.

Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Wednesday.

All arrangements are under the direction of York Funeral Home in Wayne City.
