Lora Berson

Lora June Rucker Berson, 78, of Toms River, N.J., died April 26, 2008, following complications from a head injury.
Lora June Rucker, daughter of the late Lois and Byron Rucker, was born in Wewoka, Okla., and moved to Mt. Vernon in 1938. She attended the Ward Belmont Academy in Nashville, Tenn.; graduated from the University of Illinois in 1951; and was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She married Wm. Norman Berson in 1951.
Mrs. Berson was active in the Junior League, the First United Methodist Church, the Garden Club, White Pine Twig, and served on the Board of Ocean County Hunger Relief.
Mrs. Berson is survived by her husband, Wm. Norman Berson of Toms River, N.J.; her sister, Lois Lee Nelson and husband J. Craig Nelson of Town and Country, Mo.; three sons, Mark Berson and wife Shauna of Columbia, S.C.; Steve Berson and wife Marijke of Atlanta, Ga.; and William N. Berson II, Savannah, Ga.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 3, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to First United Methodist Church of Island Heights, 111 Ocean Avenue, Island Heights, NJ 08732 or Ocean County Hunger Relief, 917-5 N. Main St., Toms River, NJ 08753.
